How far to cut Leylandii back

A) We have an old Leylandii Hedge 3 to 4 metres high and appoximately 1 to 1.5 metres wide. How far can we cut this back without killing it.

Q) To give you some example of the punishment the Leylandii could take, you could take a saw to the trunk of a Leylandii and satrt to decapitate it from around 1 ft up, and it still would still make a come back within a few months new shoots would start to appear.
They really are up to taking a lot of punishment, so feel free to trim back as much as you think is suitable for your needs
