Q) Dear Sir/Madam,
Do you have any information on the use of leylandii timber? I have some rather large logs (some 40mm diameter and 4.3 metres long) that I thinking of cutting into beams to construct a bridge to cross a small stream.
A) Leylandii was orginally grown with the view of making it a suceesful source of timber for the North American continent. They should stand up to the conditions pretty well and I would have no problem for using them for the project you are considering. My view is that they will easily last for around 30 years.
